What’s the difference between bevel gears and hypoid gears?

Bevel gears operate on intersecting shaft axes,while hypoid gears run on offset,non-intersecting shafts.The offset in hypoid gears allows for higher torque capacity and larger pinion size but introduces more sliding between teeth,which increases lubrication demands and typically requires extreme-pressure(EP)gear oils.
